Activities:
We have an exciting new programme for PE and Games here at Arley House. We give the children the opportunity to try a wide variety of different disciplines to aid their development, confidence and skills. The children also have the fantastic opportunity to use the excellent sports facilities at Sutton Bonington campus (Nottingham University), and benefit from the coaching available.
In Years 1 and 2 we have a rolling programme throughout the year that encompasses games, ball and racket skills, gymnastics, dance and swimming. In the summer term we also work on individual and team skills to help their performance in the end of term Sports Day. This provides an excellent grounding for the more targeted sports they will be introduced to in the coming years.
For children in KS2 the activities are more clearly structured into half termly sessions. In the autumn term boys do football and rugby, whereas girls do netball and hockey. Working together, athletics/cross country, gymnastics and fitness circuits are all tackled. Spring term sees some great changes with the opportunity to play badminton and learn some basic martial arts. This is supported by the regular programme of basketball and dance and work for the all important swimming gala! Tennis is the main sport in the summer whether the mini or full variety and the ever popular 'kwik cricket' makes a welcome return. In what sounds like a busy term they all play rounders and improve their athletics for Sports Day.
I'm sure you'll agree that after all this energetic activity every single child will have found something they want to improve in and take further.
